Our Farm, How is it going? - March 2025

We are close to spring and we are getting ready for it here. I want to share with you what are we doing and how it's doing these days.
Horses
This year we mostly used our own grown hay for the horses but past couple of months there was no more hay left in our storage so we bought 2000 kg in one part and now I've made an order for another 2000 kg which we expect to receive this week.
Other than that horses are fine and in good shape. Fardin rides each of them at least twice a week. There hasn't been any serious sickness or injury lately and as we ride them more in spring at late winter we start to give them more workouts so they get back into good shape soon.
Shirin got 3 years old last month. I'm looking forward to riding her even a very short ride (this was the first time Fardin went on a trail ride with her outside). Ipak and Kajal are great and Azar is doing very well after the treatments we had for her lungs.
Also called farrier to trim horses hoofs and change their shoes. I'm looking forward to trying these new wearable horseshoes that I lately seen more and more on Instagram. Will let you know my experience when I try them.
We are planning for a big horse trail ride camp in another city last month of spring. The goal is to take horses and dogs with trailer to another city which is near a big lake and beautiful forest. And go for a lot of trail rides and night camps there within a week.
We will start preparations from the beginning of spring and also have to go on some experimental long trail rides and night camps.
Dogs
Bahar passed away about 40 days ago. She used to be with us in winter and spring and with sheep in summer and fall. This year she came in winter but after a while, we saw that she doesn't go along with Sareen and Hamoun so we sent her back to be with the sheep. After a while, we found out that she passed away.
Almas, Sareen, and Hamoun are good. Sareen got 1 year old a month before and Hamoun is close (about 3 months). The somehow other bad news is that Sareen is pregnant and probably will have puppies after 20 - 30 days. It's bad news because we were not intending to have new dogs or getting Sareen pregnant yet. But here we are. We don't know how she got pregnant and we even don't know from which dog she got pregnant. Probably Almas.
Chickens
We had a problematic winter with chickens. They got sick a lot and we gave them a lot of medicine. Now everything is better. I've decided to go another way next year and only keep the chickens that can get along with cold weather.
Now we are preparing for beginning of incubation. Already one geese and one of the turkeys have laid down. We put some extra eggs under them to 😄. We are making some other warm and cozy places for others that will start laying down soon. We also should separate and prepare some coops specific for the first couple weeks that chickens have hatched out and should get take cared of.
I think I'm done. This was almost everything has been going on lately. Overall I should say that everything is good and even better and I'm thankful for it.
